Big Week For Two Local LAX Stars

Sayville's Jasmine DePompeo, Bayport's Loren Generi honored by Patriot League for leading Navy to two wins last week.

Navy’s women’s lacrosse team is enjoying another strong season and two local residents are playing key roles in the team’s success

Navy junior attack of Sayville and freshman attack of Bayport each were honored by the Patriot League Monday for their roles in Navy’s 2-0 week.

DePompeo (Sayville Class of 2009) was named the League’s offensive player of the week as she scored 16 points in victories over Holy Cross and California. This is her second player of the week award of the season.

In her team’s 18-11 victory over Holy Cross, DePompeo matched her career high with nine points (4G, 5A). Later in the week, she had a seven-point game (2G, 5A) in a 15-5 defeat of California.

Through 14 games this season DePompeo leads Navy with 63 points (29G, 34A) and is averaging 4.5 points per game.

Generi (Bayport-Blue Point Class of 2011) has shown little difficulty transitioning to the collegiate level as she picked up her third Patriot League rookie of the week award this season.

She totaled 10 points and 18 draw controls in Navy’s two victories last week. Against California she had three goals and an assist and then had a career high five goals and an assist in the win over Holy Cross.

Generi is second on the team with 46 points, is second with 40 goals and has scored at least one goal in all 14 games of her Navy career. In addition, Generi is averaging six draw controls a game, which places her top-five in the NCAA.
