Bayport-Blue Point Musicians Heading to All-State, All-County Festivals

Two selected for state, seven for county festival.

Two Bayport-Blue Point High School students have been invited to participate in the All-State Music Festival at this year’s New York State School Music Association Winter Conference.

In addition, seven students received regional honors, as they have been selected to perform at this year’s NYSCAME/SCMEA All-County Music Festival.

Each of these students received outstanding scores for their Level 6 performances (the highest level) at last year’s NYSSMA solo and ensemble evaluation festivals.

"I am very proud of these students for their level of achievement and dedication to the study of music,” said Paul Weber, the district’s chairperson for music and art. “They worked diligently last year to perform high-level NYSSMA solos and achieved outstanding ratings.”

The district commends Matthew Beyer (wind ensemble) and Alex Dura(instrumental jazz ensemble) for receiving All-State honors, as well as the following AllCounty musicians: Sarah Barsch (mixed chorus), Matthew Beyer (symphonic band), Erin Dougherty (symphony orchestra), Sean Gray (mixed chorus), Lauren Maxwell (symphonic band), Lindsay Pohl (symphony orchestra) and Ellie Rudner (women’s choir).
