Bayport Student Advances to LI Spelling Competition

Academy Elementary fourth grader will compete in LI Regional Scripps Spelling Bee.

With a correct spelling of the word “snarky,” Academy Street Elementary School fourth-grader Caroline Moller was named the winner of the school’s spelling bee and will now compete in the Long Island Regional Scripps Spelling Bee at Hofstra University in mid-February.

Academy Street’s spelling bee ran a total of 15 rounds, with the last six volleying between Caroline and runner-up Jenna Rielly. A total of 12 Academy Street fourth and fifth-graders competed in this year’s school contest.
