Led by an experienced group of upperclassmen and Coach Richard Reilly, Varsity Wrestling team has captured the Suffolk County Championship for the second consecutive year.

The team built upon individual goals throughout the season, which laid a foundation for team successes. Student-athletes grew together, developing mental and physical strength.

Coach Reilly motivated his squad with the mantra, “Know your role, do your job,” which inspired students to step up to challenges and take responsibility for the team’s accomplishments and defeats.

In order to defend their title, students prepared by attending a variety of off-season programs to strengthen their skills and build confidence during competition. The team gained momentum, first claiming the League VII Championship and then advancing to the county games, where in addition to the team championship, six athletes won county championships.

Assistant Superintendent for Personnel and Athletics Timothy Mullins said Coach Reilly’s enthusiasm as a coach and mentor helped the squad garner the title.
