B-BP Students' Creativity Honored by Reflections Program

The artistic efforts of 14 students, from kindergarten through eight grade, were recently recognized by PTA program.

The original work of 14 students of the Bayport-Blue Point School District, grades kindergarten through eight, in the areas of film production, literature, musical composition, photography and visual arts were recently recognized at the regional level of the PTA Reflections program.

This program allows students the opportunity to express themselves creatively through a variety of media as they compose original works that reflect a designated annual theme. The theme this year was “Diversity Means…”

Of the 14 recognized, one student, Philip Tubiolo, of James Wilson Young Middle School, was selected for a Regional Award of Merit. Three other students were named recipients of the Suffolk County Award of Excellence by the Suffolk Region PTA and will go on to represent the district at the state level. Congratulations to the following students who were honored with Awards of Excellence: John LaFountain: Academy Street Elementary School (Musical Composition); Carley Lovito: Blue Point Elementary School (Photography), and Kim McKendrick: James Wilson Young Middle School (Musical Composition).
