B-BP Middle Schoolers Hit the Beach for a Good Cause

Student Ecology Club cleans up Blue Point's Corey Beach.

The James Wilson Young Middle School Ecology Club in the Bayport-Blue Point School District participated for the first time in the “Corey Beach Clean-Up” environmental project.

Armed with garbage bags and gloves, students removed litter from the local beach in an earth-conscious effort to improve their surroundings. The project was sponsored by the Town of Brookhaven, South Shore Community Organization, and the Bayport-Blue Point High School Ecology Club.

“The kids did a great job,” remarked Petrocine. “They didn't let the
weather affect their enthusiasm at all.” Special thanks to Melanie Holtz of South Shore Community Organization and Donna Edgar, advisor of the High School Ecology Club, for their support and organizational efforts.
