B-BP Library Vote Gets Voter Approval

Stephanie Heineman is new trustee on library board.

Bayport-Blue Point voters approved the proposed 2013-2014 operating budget of the Bayport-Blue Point Public Library, by a vote of 172 to 56 and the budget will take effect on July 1, 2013.

“This operating budget will allow the Library to continue its long-standing tradition of customer service as well as to provide innovative programs and new materials for all patrons,” stated Library Director Mike Firestone, in a press statement.

With 206 votes, Stephanie Heineman was elected to serve on the Bayport-Blue Point Library board of trustees commencing July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2018.

Heineman has been a resident of Blue Point for the past 31 years. She served as the director of the Northport-East Northport Public Library from 1988-2009 and prior to that was the assistant director of the Middle Country Public Library from 1970-1988. Stephanie received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from SUNY Albany and a Master of Science from Simmons College School of Library Science in Boston, MA.

“I look forward to contributing to community service by serving as a trustee on the Library Board,” described Heineman.

“In my role as a Library trustee, I would like to work with the Library’s administration to craft an effective and efficient plan of Library development based on community needs. This can form a building block of how the Bayport-Blue Point Library can continue to be robust today and relevant tomorrow.” Heineman will replace Board of Trustees’ Member Brenda Goelz who will conclude her term on June 30, 2013.

The Bayport-Blue Point board of trustees, along with the library director and staff, would like to thank everyone for coming to vote and for supporting your community library.

“We greatly look forward to serving our Library patrons during the coming year,” said Firestone. “We will continue to evolve for you, and with your help and guidance, we will continue to improve your public library.”
