B-BP Hall of Fame Inducts 5 New Honorees

District ceremony recognized hall of famers as part of Homecoming celebration.

Homecoming in the Bayport-Blue Point School District kicked off early on the morning of October 13 with the annual Athletic Wall of Fame induction ceremony and breakfast reception.

During the breakfast, Athletic Director Timothy Mullins welcomed community guests, including members of the Board of Education and school administrators, as well as family and friends of the inductees who were present to show their support.

The Bayport-Blue Point High School Athletic Wall of Fame recognizes those individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the athletic program through their participation as athletes, coaches, administrators and honorary Phantoms.

This year’s inductees included Diane Heiser (Class of 2002, track and field athlete), Kerry Lawler (former football coach), Tom McCarthy (Class of 1985, football and wrestling athlete), Florence Meyer (former athletic secretary) and Don Smith (Class of 1947, basketball, soccer and baseball athlete).

During the special ceremony, each new inductee received a copy of the plaque on display on the Wall of Fame. The new inductees were recognized during the homecoming game festivities later in the day.
