B-BP School District Budget Hearing Tuesday Night

Officials expected to present potential budget-cutting options.

The Bayport-Blue Point School District leaders will present potential budget cutting recommendations Tuesday night at the second budget hearing which will be held from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the high school cafeteria.

The first budget hearing featured a presentation of current fiscal standing, a proposed budget of $66,611,921 which reflects a 2.9 percent increase over the current school budget of $64,733,505.

The initial budget reflects a $335,236 decline in state aid, according to district officials. Last year the district received $15,753,223 in basic state aid. This year the projection is for $15,417,987. The proposed budget retains the same fund balance from last year, $2.3 million.
