UPDATED: B-BP District to Name New School Chief Today

The Board of Education will officially announce the hiring of a new superintendent.

The Bayport Blue Point School District will announce the newly hired school superitndent on its website at noon today and will hold a meet-and-greet for residents and taxpayers on Tuesday evening.

Board of Education President James March said a special board meeting will take place October 2 at 8 p.m. in the high school cafeteria for the purpose of officially appointing the new school leader. There will be a reception for the community and media after the announcement where attendees will be able to ask questions "on an informal basis," said March.

"I am expecting an official announcement to be posted to our website today providing background, salary and process," March told Patch Monday morning in an email.

The district has had an interim superintendent, Neil Lederer, since this past July after the resignation of Anthony Annuziato, who took a school chief role at Smithtown school district after serving the district for seven years.

This story was updated to provide the specific time the hiring information will be posted on the district's website.

And so the taxpayer is once again asked to give more to an already out of control and bloatedRead More system. Every year the school districts on Long Island receive increases of millions of dollars to their budgets, and still they want to bleed the taxpayer for more. As two income families struggle to pay exorbitant tax bills, we’re asked to pay even more? We’ll here’s a novel idea, how about if the teachers union’s began demanding less? This early retirement baloney must stop, salaries should be capped, administrators and their staffs must be cut by at least eighty percent. In addition, educators and staff should have to pay for their own medical and retirement plans just as the rest of us must. Here on Long Island, families are suffering and sacrificing, and many are being forced to leave due to taxes which are out of control. It is time for educators to cease hiding behind children with threats of decreased student programs, and to make an honest and realistic observation as to why things are as bad as they are. To blame parents for not paying enough into the system to support the schools is ludicrous. The real problem lies in a system which is self serving, and run by incompetents blind to the harm they are inflicting upon our children and families.

It's a drive-through bank.

I heard it was a bank some time ago, but I can't imagine which bank would run a construction projectRead More so poorly.
