W. Sayville CVS on Planning Board Agenda Thursday

Public hearing on proposal will be at 7:30 p.m.

A proposal to build a new CVS in West Sayville is the subject of a public hearing before the Islip Town Planning Board Thursday night.

First Hartford Realty Corp. hopes to build on the northwest corner of Main Street and Tyler Avenue, at 105 Main Street which is the site of the Truck Shop, which was founded in 1973.

The company is seeking a change of zone from Residence B District and Business 1 district to all Business 1, as well as a special permit for a single-user freestanding retail use in excess of 10,000 sqaure feet of floor area and a drive-through window for a pharmacy.

The public hearing, at 7:30 p.m., is the first of two hearings that will be held on the proposal, according to planning officials. There will also be a traffic study review process.

Currently CVS operates a location east of the proposed site, on the south side of Montauk Highway next to St. Lawrence Catholic Church.

Calls to CVS were not immediately returned about the project and whether the new store would mean shuttering the current location.

CVS operates a store in Bayport, at the corner of Gillette Avenue and Montauk Highway. Sayville is home to two other pharmacy retail operators, Walgreens and Rite Aid.

It's a drive-through bank.

I heard it was a bank some time ago, but I can't imagine which bank would run a construction projectRead More so poorly.
