Talk Back: Islip Pines Proposal

Following Thursday's meeting at Islip Town Hall, Patch wants your thoughts on how development of the property in Holbrook could impact the local community.

This past Thursday, local residents and business owners at a meeting of the Islip Town Board to voice their opposition to the Islip Pines Proposal, a mixed-use development on 136 acres of land in Holbrook.

As reported by Patch, Bill Etts, president of the , noted his concern that retail business in downtown areas such as Sayville will be “sucked out of Main Street.”

Some local residents who spoke at the Islip Town Board meeting said they were also worried about added congestion while others were unhappy about the proposal to construct a hotel.
