Talk Back: Capping Interim School Chief Salaries

Should salaries of retired superintendents be limited when it comes to per diem service?

New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo would love to see school superintendent salaries capped, somewhere near $150,000 which is much lower than most of Long Island's school chiefs make today.

But what about interim retired school chief salaries? The going rate, according to one local board of education, is about $1,000 a day and that doesn't include any other consulting work or fees with other districts.

What do you think? Should there be a state law that interim school chief salaries be capped, or even mandated to be one set salary which could be reviewed every year or two years?
