Sound Off: Do You Support the Islip Pines Development?
Massive mixed-use development will be topic of public hearing at Islip Town Hall tonight; what do you think of the proposal?
A 136-acre parcel of open space in Holbrook, and the controversial for it, will be the subject of a public hearing before the Islip Town Board at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
Serota Properties is proposing a mixed-use development project, which would include more than 200 housing units, more than 400,000 square feet of retail space, a hotel and movie theater, on the land at the northeast corner of Vets and Sunrise highways.
Serota says "the development will serve as a social hub for those seeking a unique shopping, dining, working and living experience." Local chambers of commerce and civic groups it will cause traffic nightmares and negatively impact business on local downtowns/Main Streets.
