By Michael Sorrentino

A moment of silence took place at noon Wednesday at Brookhaven Town Hall in Farmingville as part of a Sept. 11 memorial ceremony.

According to an announcement from the Town, a bell was struck five times to signal the traditional "back to base" in honor of the firefighters, police and emergency service personnel who died at the World Trade Center in 2001.

A 9-11 memorial is located behind Brookhaven Town Hall near its fitness path.
