Lindsay Wins Sixth Term on Legislature

Democrat Bill Lindsay defeats Anthony Musumeci.

Bill Lindsay will serve a sixth and final term on the Suffolk County Legislature.

Lindsay, a Democrat and the legislature's presiding officer, has defeated Republican in the 8th Legislative District. With all districts reporting, Lindsay claimed 54 percent of the vote (7,943-6,674).

Lindsay, first elected to the Legislature in 2001 to fill the unexpired term of outgoing County Executive Steve Levy, who was elected to the New York State Assembly at the time, will now serve two more years in the legislature before being term-limited out of office.

Lindsay, of Holbrook, said he lists a revamped county ethics code and an ongoing Montauk Highway improvement project among his top accomplishments during his tenure in office.

The 8th Legislative District includes Bayport, Bohemia, Holbrook, Sayville, West Sayville, Oakdale and parts of Ronkonkoma and Holtsville.
