Peter King Presidential Run Still a Possibility

Local Congressman says he will decide in the next 12-18 months on a presidential bid.

Rep. Peter King continues to keep his name in the mix of possible candidates for president in 2016.

According to a Newsday report, the Seaford Republican said Monday that he will decide in the next 12 to 18 months whether to make a run for the White House.

"It's not as arrogant as it seems," King said, according to Newsday, of the 11-term Congressman seeking the presidency. "But we'll see where it goes. If it happens, it happens. But I am not raising money or seeking endorsements."

If he were to run in 2016, King would be 72, one year younger than President Ronald Reagan was when he was re-elected to a second term in 1984. At 73, Reagan was the oldest person to be elected to the nation’s highest elected office.

King has flirted with running for the U.S. Senate numerous times in the past, but each time has decided to stick with his seat in the House.
