UPDATE: Mosquito Treatment Cancelled at Sayville Yacht Club Tuesday

Suffolk vector department will not be treating marsh area due to weather.

The public works' division has cancelled the mosquito spraying at Sayville Yacht Club in Blue Point that had been scheduled for Tuesday.

ORIGINAL STORY
The Suffolk County Department of Public Works’ Division of Vector Control will treat salt marshes at the Sayville Yacht Club in Blue Point on Wednesday to control mosquito larvae.

The treatment by helicopter will be a low altitude, large droplet liquid application of Altosid liquid concentrate (methoprene) and take place between 5 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Should weather conditions prevent completion of the work, it will be continued on the next suitable day.

County officials say no precautions are recommended to prepare for this spraying, as the helicopter will be flying at a very low level over marsh areas and taking other precautions to control drift into inhabited areas. Human exposure from this operation is unlikely and the products involved have no significant human toxicity.
