Lee Zeldin Officially Sworn Into Office

The Republican Senator takes his oath in front of supporters, family and friends.

Lee Zeldin officially added Senator to his title when he was sworn in on Tuesday after being elected this past November in New York's Third Senate District.

Zeldin's supporters took two chartered buses to travel to the State Capitol in Albany to be a part of the ceremonies, which was done at no cost to the taxpayers.

"I'm gratified that so many of my friends and supporters made the trip. My election victory belongs to them as much as it does to me," said Zeldin (R,C, I – Shirley). "Their overwhelming support for my message will be a tremendous source of strength and resolve as we begin the difficult challenge of reforming New York State. They will be with me every step of the way."

"The voters have made clear that they want a new direction for New York State," said Zeldin. "I'm determined to change the way Albany does business and restore a state government that will make us proud. The voters want tax relief, spending control and reform. They'll support elected officials who deliver, and I am confident I will."
