Islip on Second Plowing Loop; Airport Resuming Flight Activity Before Noon

First post-storm airport flight arriving at 11:05 a.m. Wednesday, first departure will be 11:43 a.m.

As of 7:30 a.m. Wednesday Islip Town plows were one third through their second pass of clearing the town's streets and the town's emergency operations center had responded to 122 resident calls, according to town officials.

"We cleared all roads at least once by 4 a.m.," a town spokesperson told Patch in an email Tuesday morning.  The Caesar Trunzo Senior Citizen Center on Second Avenue in Brentwood,  will open as a warming center at 12 noon today.

Long Island MacArthur Airport, which shut down flight activity about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, is allowing carriers to resume service later this morning. The first flight inbound will be a Southwest plane at 11:05 a.m. and the first departure at 11:43 a.m..

"We are continuing to ask residents to stay off roads and move cars off street so we can plow most efficiently," the spokesperson stated.
