Islip Dems Fill Open Candidate Slots

Town council race is now set.

Islip Democrats have filled their vacancies for this fall’s town council race.

According to a report in Newsday, Astrid Fidelia and Kevin Faivre will now run against Republican’s Steve Flotteron and Trish Bergin Weichbrodt for their town board seats.

Gerry Pallotta, town Democratic Committee Chairman, said the two candidates were chosen Tuesday.

They replace prior candidates Ken Mangan and Dafny Irizzary, each of who choose not to run after being nominated, citing increasing work commitments.

An Islip resident, Fidelia previously served as head of Islip’s Foreign Trade Zone when Phil Nolan held the title of town supervisor. Faivre, and East Islip resident, works for the Suffolk County Board of Elections.
