House Height Proposal on Islip Board Meeting Tuesday

Several public hearings are also on the agenda.

Public hearings on changing the building height for homes located in flood zones and raising the fines for violating several town codes are on the agenda for the Islip Town Board meeting, which starts at 2 p.m. Tuesay at Town Hall.

According to the meeting’s agenda, the town is looking to change how the height of a home located within an Area of Special Flood Hazard is measured.

The resolution would allow the height to be measured from the average grade of the ground at the base of the structure or the minimum elevation necessary to meet requirements for federal flood insurance as determined by the National Flood Insurance Program.

In addition, council members will also hear from the public on raising fines for failure to display a boat ramp permit, parking a vehicle for purposes of selling it and various other uniform traffic codes.
