Heidi Klum Joins Village's Holiday Festivities Sunday

Lindenhurst's holiday festivities include the Kiwanis Kids' Party, Santa in the Park and the Parade and Tree Lighting where Klum will join Patch in handing out gifts to Lindy kids.

Feeling festive? Well, today's the day to get into the holiday spirit right here in the Village of Lindenhurst.

There are several events happening today, Sunday, for adults and kids alike.

Not the least of which is the culminating event, the Village of Lindenhurst's Annual Tree Lighting and Parade, where supermodel and current host of Project Runway Heidi Klum will join Patch employees in handing out gifts to children in Lindenhurst.

This, along with the other holiday activities happening today, is a welcome respite for Lindy, which was hit hard by Hurricane Sandy a month ago.

Stop complaining. This was a great event for our town. More people getting involved is a GOOD thing.

I disagree. It was a nice gesture. There was no stampede. It was very orderly. In fact, the presents were being passed back through the crowd. There just wasn't enough presents. I didn't see anyone crying. Maybe alittle disappointed but i didn't see any tears. It was an unexpected nice gesture. I thought it was comical that it took a few tries to light the tree and the village made light of that. It was a fun night. The town got a nice opportunity to thank the firemen for their hard work on the disaster. Also the parade route started on Shore Rd to lift the spirits of those who were effected by the storm. It was nice that the Patch came down w/ Heidi Klum and gave out some gifts.

I agree it was a safety issue people should have been kept out of the path of Fire Dept vehicles, there was absolutely no crowd control. Yes past traditions were thrown aside. There just seemed to be no one in charge. I saw the back of Heidi Klum's head and heard her voice before the stampede to get a toy began !

I think it was great! I do think that the presents should have been distributed to the families that needed it most. I didn't bring my son up to get a present because we were not affected by the hurricane. They should have had Heidi's Truck in the beginning of the parade to hand the presents out. Yes they could have had more crowd control but I bet they never thought they would have that many people there. Thank You to the patch and Heidi for coming down.

No good deed goes unpunished anywhere, there was an outpouring for us due to the storm. People try to make a gesture showing us they care and of course its complaints about what people didnt get and the politicians. I think it was great of all the organizers, our politicians and Heidi Klum to all have sentiment for us a village. Thank you to you all along with camp Bulldog and everyone who helped us starting over a month ago, its ALL appreciated and nothing to complain about,THANK YOU.
