Election Day, Board of Education Meeting, SCPD Community Forum

Nov. 2 marks Election Day 2010, and is filled with other important events.

It's Election Day, and with numerous races affecting the districts within Bayport and Blue Point, Patch has provided several articles informing readers about the people behind the names they'll see on the polls today.

  • Polls everywhere are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Visit this website to find your local polling location. Most registered voters in Bayport and Blue Point will either vote at the Bayport-Blue Point Public Library (use back entrance, polls are in the community room) or Bayport-Blue Point High School, in the gymnasium. Read a last-minute rundown of the candidates in our district here.
  • Today in Phantoms varsity sports: the Lady Phantoms soccer team takes on Islip High School, 2508 Union Blvd., Islip, 11751, 3 p.m.
  • On the first Tuesday of each month, the Suffolk County Police Department holds a community meeting at the fifth precinct, 125 Waverly Avenue, Patchogue.  Join local police officers at 7 p.m. to discuss what is happening in our community and police department.  Check out what happened at the September and October meetings.
  • Head to Bayport-Blue Point High School at 8 p.m. to attend the Board of Education meeting scheduled for today. At the most recent board meeting, administrators discussed learning programs that have been implemented recently throughout the district. Such curriculums included 'differentiated instruction' and 'foreign language exposure' in elementary schools.
