Community Ambulance Wants New Station to Speed Up Response Time

Organization seeks town approval to move from Railroad Avenue to Chester Road and Lakeland Avenue.

A proposal by the Sayville-based Community Ambulance Company to build a station at Chester Road and Lakeland Avenue is under review by the Islip Town Planning Board which has reserved decision on the proposal until its next meeting on June 3.

According to a published report, the company said the new location would speed up response times as it’s more central than the current location on Railroad Avenue.

Several residents, according to the published report, spoke in opposition about the proposal citing traffic and noise concerns at a public hearing late last week. A call to the ambulance company was not returned by press time.
