Brookhaven Orders All Non-Emergency Vehicles Off Roadways

Supervisor Ed Romaine issues emergency executive order for all vehicles to stay off roadways.

Town of Brookhaven residents are now being ordered to stay at home and keep their vehicles off the buried roadways.

Supervisor Ed Romaine issued an Emergency Executive Order at 10 a.m. Saturday calling for all non-emergency vehicles to stay off roadways, which are still blanketed in snow and ice.

Heavy snowfall dumped by the blizzard during overnight hours has made for dangerous driving conditions. There are several abandoned vehicles obstructing roadways, making it difficult for snowplows and emergency vehicles to pass, according to town officials.

"Town crews are working to clear the roads and will continue their efforts until all are safe and passable," reads a notification from the Town.

Residents with snow-related issues and emergencies should call the Town at 631-451-TOWN (8696).

there is no reason to be out! you are only endangering yourself and taking help away from clearing the roads
