The congressman urged parents and students to attend the fair in order to learn about all the resources that are available to them to afford a higher education.

“A higher education is the pathway to success in our country,” Bishop said. “But it is also important that students and parents are aware of all the resources available to them so they don’t graduate with an unsustainable level of debt.”

Bishop will discuss different programs available to students, including increases in Pell Grants, new regulations on student loan interest rates and efforts to expand direct lending so students get better rates rather than banks earning fees for serving as middle men. There will also be an informal reception where students and parents can talk one-on-one with financial aid experts.

The fair will take place in O’Connor Hall at St. Joseph’s College located at 155 West Roe Boulevard in Patchogue. Interested persons can register for the event by calling (631) 632-6586 or email faseminar@sjcny.edu.
