Adopt A Bike Program A Success

Town program allows residents to donate unwanted bicycles.

Supervisor Phil Nolan and Councilman John Edwards recently visited the Adopt-A-Bike site to drop off two more bikes that Edwards collected for the program. The Adopt-A-Bike program was started in 2011 by Councilman Edwards as a way for residents to donate unwanted bicycles. These bikes would then be made available to others, free of charge.

“The program has been very successful,” stated Councilman Edwards. “Over forty bikes have been donated and adopted since last October.”

“The Town is more than happy to promote fitness by encouraging riding while also helping provide bicycles to Islip families,” added Supervisor Nolan. “Every child should have a bike.”
