West Sayville Man Injured in Road Rage Incident

A road rage incident on the Southern State Parkway has left a West Sayville man with injuries to his face and leg and led to an assault charge for a Merrick resident.

Robert Reed, 49, of West Sayville, and Merrick resident Rodney Selman, 42, were driving eastbound Friday night about 8:48 p.m., west of Exit 36 in Babylon, when they were involved in a rear-end collision, according to state police.

After the crash the two men pulled to the side of the road and became involved in a physical altercation.

During the fight police said Selman hit and threw Reed to the ground causing injuries to his face and leg. Reed was treated for his injuries at Good Samaritan Hospital.

Selman was arrested and is charged with assault in the third degree, according to state police.
