Update: MTA Police ID Woman Struck by Train on Nov. 15

Sayville resident Coralee Grant remains in critical condition at University Hospital at Stony Brook.

The woman involved in Monday morning's at McConnell Avenue in Bayport has been identified by MTA Police as Coralee Grant, 21, of Sayville.

Grant was trespassing on the LIRR right of way when she was struck by an eastbound Speonk train, MTA officials said. She was taken to University Hospital at Stony Brook where she is in critical condition. The circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation by the MTA Police, according to MTA spokesman Salvatore Arena.

Grant was struck by a train heading eastbound at 9:15 a.m. near McConnell Avenue in Bayport. She was transported by medevac from the Islip Grange property at Broadway Avenue and Montauk Highway in Sayville to Stony Brook immediately following the incident.

Arena said Grant suffered severe injuries. At this time, it is unknown why she was on the tracks when she was hit by the train, which left Babylon at 8:52 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive out east at 10:53 a.m.

The incident caused some LIRR scheduling issues on Nov. 15, as the area is where the double track merges into one track. "Because the incident happened on a single track, it caused some delays into the afternoon," said Arena.
