Suffolk cops arrested a man who pulled a knife on a passerby on Montauk Highway early this morning.

Suffolk County Police have arrested a man who stabbed a passerby on Montauk Highway in Blue Point early this morning.

Matthew Burke, 34, was walking home at approximately 12:30 a.m. when he was stabbed by a man in front of a residence located at 165 Montauk Highway.

Burke, of Blue Point, was transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue where he was treated for a collapsed lung and a severe laceration to his side.

Fifth Squad detectives arrested William Agosto, 45, at approximately 3:40 a.m., and charged him with 2nd degree assault. Agosto, who is a resident of the home on Montauk Highway, will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Aug. 4.

As of 10:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, there is nothing new to report on this crime, according to the police's public information office.
