Sex Offender Living Near Bayport Schools Gets Relocation Order
Resident must relocate within 45 days of violation notice.
A sex offender living in Bayport is violating local law by living too close to a school and has 45 days to relocate, according to Suffolk Police.
The notification was given to Wayne Horne, who is renting an apartment on Sylvan Avenue in Bayport. Sylvan houses the Sylvan Avenue Elementary School and James Wilson Young Middle School in the Bayport-Blue Point school district.
The school district had alerted parents in late September, by law, that a sex offender had registered as living within the district. Once the location was made public several parents contacted the school district and the Fifth Precinct to file complaints that the residency was not adhering to the requirements under state law.
