Sayville Woman Struck by Train in Bayport

MTA identified Sayville resident Coralee Grant as woman struck on Nov. 15.

The woman  on Monday morning in Bayport has been identified by MTA Police as Coralee Grant, 21, of Sayville.

Grant was trespassing on the LIRR right of way on Nov. 15 near McConnell Avenue in Bayport when she was struck by an eastbound Speonk train. She was taken to University Hospital at Stony Brook where she is still listed in critical condition. The circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation by the MTA Police, according to MTA spokesman Salvatore Arena.

Grant was struck by a train heading eastbound at 9:15 a.m. near McConnell Avenue in Bayport. The woman was transported by medevac from the Islip Grange property at Broadway Avenue and Montauk Highway in Sayville to Stony Brook immediately following the incident.

Arena said the woman incurred severe injuries but is still alive. At this time, it is unknown why the woman was on the tracks when she was hit by the train, which left Babylon at 8:52 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive out east at 10:53 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing and patch will update as new details are made available.
