Sayville Residents Elect New Fire Commissioner

Chris Bailey defeats Mark Frappied for a five-year term.

Chris Bailey defeated Mark Frappied in Tuesday's election and won a 5-year term as one of five .

"I would like to thank the Sayville community for coming out for the Fire District elections. The support shows that the residents are indeed interested in the operations of the fire district and the tax dollars that we spend to protect our community," said Bailey. "I look forward to working with the other four commissioners to serve the community by providing the best possible fire and safety protection. Also I would like to thank Mark Frappied for a well contested race that ultimately serves the community's interest by involving many of its residents and having an informed voting public."

Bailey is a life-long Sayville resident and a member of the Sayville Fire Department. He is past vice president, secretary and trustee of the department. In addition, he has chaired many successful fundraisers including the annual comedy night, raffles and Las Vegas night.

Mark Schmittzeh, who was appointed commissioner in April and ran unopposed for his seat, was also elected to a 4-year term.
