ARRESTS

January 6, 2013

Thomas Higgins, of Bohemia, was arrested in Sayville and charged with DWI.

January 4, 2013

Arzu Yetim, of East Northport, was arrested in Sayville and charged with identity theft, several counts of possession of a forged instrument and forgery related to a will/deed and scheme to defraud.

January 3, 2013

Jon Svendsen, of Sayville, was arrested in Yaphank and charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs.

January 2, 2013

Ryan Wall, of Sayville, was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs.

INCIDENTS

A person on West Main Street reported a man threw a can a beer at a window.

January 4, 2013

Grand larceny was reported by a jewelry store on the eastbound sunrise service roaad.

January 3, 2013

An incident of harassment was reported on Old Broadway Avenue.

Criminal mischief to a basketball hoop was reported by a Sejon Drive resident.

January 2, 2013

Grand larceny was reported on Main Street in Sayville.

And so the taxpayer is once again asked to give more to an already out of control and bloatedRead More system. Every year the school districts on Long Island receive increases of millions of dollars to their budgets, and still they want to bleed the taxpayer for more. As two income families struggle to pay exorbitant tax bills, we’re asked to pay even more? We’ll here’s a novel idea, how about if the teachers union’s began demanding less? This early retirement baloney must stop, salaries should be capped, administrators and their staffs must be cut by at least eighty percent. In addition, educators and staff should have to pay for their own medical and retirement plans just as the rest of us must. Here on Long Island, families are suffering and sacrificing, and many are being forced to leave due to taxes which are out of control. It is time for educators to cease hiding behind children with threats of decreased student programs, and to make an honest and realistic observation as to why things are as bad as they are. To blame parents for not paying enough into the system to support the schools is ludicrous. The real problem lies in a system which is self serving, and run by incompetents blind to the harm they are inflicting upon our children and families.
