Police: Sayville Man Charged In Hit and Run Accident

Two sisters were injured in the crash Tuesday afternoon on Lincoln Avenue.

A Sayville man is under arrest and charged with grand larceny, leaving the scene of an accident with injury, criminal mischief and resisting arrest following a three-car Tuesday afternoon in Sayville, Suffolk County Police told Patch.

According to police, Richard Thorson, 43, allegedly stole a car and was headed northbound on Lincoln Avenue in a 1996 Toyota when he crossed the double yellow line and crashed into the driver's side of a 2001 Pontiac in the southbound lane. The Pontiac, with two sisters inside, was then pushed into a parked 2012 Honda on the west side of Lincoln Avenue.

Police said Thorson left the scene of the crime and was charged with criminal mischief for allegedly kicking out the rear passenger window of a police car in which he was sitting. Police say Thorson was not injured but was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital with chest pains.
