Sayville FD Collection Effort is Ongoing

Certain supplies are needed, but clothing isn't on the list.

An effort by the Sayville Fire Department to help local families impacted by Hurricane Sandy has been an immediate success, with donors dropping off bags and bags of donations.

The most in-demand supplies include baby food, baby formula, diapers, baby wipes, manual can openers, non-perishable food, blankets, flashlights, batteries, toiletries, cleaning supplies, garbage bags, feminine hygiene items and gift cards.

The one thing no longer needed are clothes except for coats, gloves and hats.
