UPDATE: Sayville CVS Robbed, Employee Shot in Foot

Suspect flees scene after stealing 150 pain pills.

A Sayville employee was shot in the foot with an imitation air gun during a robbery Monday morning, police said.

The employee was not injured, though, as police said the gun was loaded with only a "small plastic projectile."

Police said a man entered the store at 270 W. Main St. at 11:58 a.m. and jumped over the pharmacy counter. The man then shot the employee before producing a second weapon, which he used to force the employee to open a safe containing Oxycontin.

Police would not say what the second weapon was.

The suspect stole approximately 150 Oxycontin pills and then fled on foot out of the rear of the store toward Handsome Avenue, police said. The suspect is described as a white male, between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-11 and between 20 and 30 years old. He was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a black scarf over his face.
