Roof Fire Damages Blue Point Auto Shop

Blue Point FD responds to fire alarm on Division Avenue late Friday night.

A fire at a Blue Point commercial auto shop on Division Avenue late Friday night yielded no injuries, but caused significant damage to two businesses housed in the same building.

Both Bonsignore Kart Shoppe and RPM Motors of Long Island's Blue Point location- just north of Bonsignore- were damaged in the blaze. 

The received the alarm from dispatch shortly before 11 p.m. Friday, reporting a roof fire at 119 Division Ave., according to the department's Second Assistant Chief, Eric Ferraro.

Chief Doug Cibuls, First Assistant Chief John Erdman, and Ferraro arrived on scene minutes after receiving notification, and extinguished the blaze shortly thereafter.

The cause of the heavy roof fire is unknown, but is under investigation.
