Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $5,000 reward for help in nabbing a man who tried to rob the Walgreens Pharmacy on North Main Street in Sayville late in February.
According to Suffolk Police, a white male in his late 30s to early 40s entered the store about 2:45 p.m. on February 21 and handed a note to a pharmacist demanding controlled substances.
The suspect fled out the front door empty handed after a pharmacist did not comply with his demands.
Anyone with information about this attempted robbery or the suspect is asked to call the Crime Stoppers of Suffolk County Hotline at (800) 220-TIPS (8477).
“It’s important for people to know that all information that we get is kept completely confidential. Callers never have to give their names or appear in court. The Crime Stoppers tip line does not use any tape recording or caller ID devices,” said Crime Stoppers Vice Chairman, Loring Miller.
Half of the $5,000 reward is donated by pharmaceutical company Purdue Pharma L.P., which operates RxPATROL, a collaborative effort between industry, pharmacists and law enforcement to collect, collate, analyze and disseminate information on pharmacy theft.
