Report: Plane Makes Belly Landing At MacArthur

Small, single-engine aircraft makes rough landing Friday afternoon.

A small plane made a “belly landing” at Long Island MacArthur Airport on Friday after it had an issue with its landing gear.

Citing information from authorities, NBC 4 New York reported that the landing gear of the single-engine aircraft either collapsed or was never put down. The pilot was the only person on the plane when it landed, and no injuries were reported.

Airport officials were working to remove the plane from the runway and the Federal Aviation Administration has been notified.

At 2:30 p.m., MacArthur’s website showed only a couple of arrival and departure delays with most commercial flights listed as “on time.” The airport has three carriers: Southwest Airlines, US Airways and PenAir.

This is a breaking news story and will be updated as more info becomes available.
