Police: Three Nabbed on Robbery Charges After Traffic Stop in Sayville

Three men charged with multiple robberies, police say.

Three men were arrested on multiple robbery charges following a traffic stop in Sayville Friday night, police said. 

Police said Jeffrey Francis, 21, of Medford, Reggie Lewis, 20, of Brooklyn, and Travis Towler, 23, of Brooklyn, robbed a 7-Eleven on Montauk Highway in East Islip Friday night. 

A broadcast notification of the suspects was made on the radio and after hearing it, a Fifth Precinct sergeant entered a 7-Eleven in Sayville to alert employees of the robbery, police said.

After leaving the 7-Eleven, the sergeant conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle on Sunrise Highway east of Lakeland Avenue in Sayville and the three men inside were arrested. Francis, Lewis and Towler face first degree robbery charges for the 7-Eleven robbery and the robbery of a Getty gas station in Bay Shore on Sept. 7. Francis is also charged with criminal possession of a weapon connected to the 7-Eleven robbery, police said. 

Francis and Towler are also charged with robbing a 7-Eleven in Commack and attempting to rob a Metro Mart in East Northport on Sept. 10.

All three men were scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday.
