Police: Sayville Man Stole Camera Equipment From Former Employer

Ronald Kister is charged with grand larceny and due in court next month.

A Sayville man is charged with grand larceny and official misconduct for allegedly stealing camera equipment from the Levittown School District where he had worked as director of computer and media services, according to Nassau County Police.

Ronald E. Kister, 37, of Brook Street, allegedly directed an employee to order camera equipment in excess of $3,500 and told the employee it was for another district employeee, according to police.

When the equipment arrived in early September police say Kister took it from the building and gave it to a female friend as a gift. A short itme later Kister left his job in the district, said police.

The theft was reported to police in October when another district employee asked about the equipment and discovered it was missing.

On Tuesday police said they located Kister and placed him under arrest without incident and the equipment was recovered.

Kister is charged with grand larceny in the fourth degree and official misconduct. He was issued an appearance ticket and is due in First District Court on December 7.

And so the taxpayer is once again asked to give more to an already out of control and bloatedRead More system. Every year the school districts on Long Island receive increases of millions of dollars to their budgets, and still they want to bleed the taxpayer for more. As two income families struggle to pay exorbitant tax bills, we’re asked to pay even more? We’ll here’s a novel idea, how about if the teachers union’s began demanding less? This early retirement baloney must stop, salaries should be capped, administrators and their staffs must be cut by at least eighty percent. In addition, educators and staff should have to pay for their own medical and retirement plans just as the rest of us must. Here on Long Island, families are suffering and sacrificing, and many are being forced to leave due to taxes which are out of control. It is time for educators to cease hiding behind children with threats of decreased student programs, and to make an honest and realistic observation as to why things are as bad as they are. To blame parents for not paying enough into the system to support the schools is ludicrous. The real problem lies in a system which is self serving, and run by incompetents blind to the harm they are inflicting upon our children and families.
