Police Rescue Pup From Bayport Creek

A young dog is pulled from icy waters after falling in Homan Creek.

Suffolk County Police rescued a puppy that had fallen through the ice of a Bayport creek this morning.

Police responded to Paulanna Avenue after a 911 caller reported that there was a dog in a canal at 8:20 a.m.  Upon arrival, officers were unable to see a dog in the water, but the owner of a three-month-old Labrador, Kevin Fitz, approached Emergency Services Officer Daniel Coan at the scene and said his puppy was missing from Salt Meadow Lane in Bayport.

Officer Coan looked further and noticed broken ice on Homan Creek. He followed the trail of broken ice and heard barking and then located the puppy under a dock. Officer Coan and Fifth Precinct Police Officer David Preller were able to break a piece of the dock and pulled the puppy out of the water.

The puppy, Simon, was reunited with his owner.

And so the taxpayer is once again asked to give more to an already out of control and bloatedRead More system. Every year the school districts on Long Island receive increases of millions of dollars to their budgets, and still they want to bleed the taxpayer for more. As two income families struggle to pay exorbitant tax bills, we’re asked to pay even more? We’ll here’s a novel idea, how about if the teachers union’s began demanding less? This early retirement baloney must stop, salaries should be capped, administrators and their staffs must be cut by at least eighty percent. In addition, educators and staff should have to pay for their own medical and retirement plans just as the rest of us must. Here on Long Island, families are suffering and sacrificing, and many are being forced to leave due to taxes which are out of control. It is time for educators to cease hiding behind children with threats of decreased student programs, and to make an honest and realistic observation as to why things are as bad as they are. To blame parents for not paying enough into the system to support the schools is ludicrous. The real problem lies in a system which is self serving, and run by incompetents blind to the harm they are inflicting upon our children and families.

It's a drive-through bank.

I heard it was a bank some time ago, but I can't imagine which bank would run a construction projectRead More so poorly.
