The body discovered Monday in the Lotus Lake woods in Sayville has officially been ruled a suicide, according to Suffolk Police.
No further information regarding the death, or the person, will be forthcoming, according to SCPD policy regarding suicide incidents.
The body was discovered in the late afternoon deep in the woods on the south side of Montauk Highway, near the intersection of Broadway Avenue.
Suffolk Police helicopters were reported seen searching the area and police officers cordoned off about two blocks length of trees and a pathway into the woods.
People believed to be family members were seen being walked out of the woods by a police officer shortly before 6 p.m.
