A 25-year-old Medford man fell down a storm drain while attempting to retrieve his cell phone on Route 112 near Granny Road in Medford Monday evening, says Suffolk County Police.

According to police, the man, who was not identified, accidentally dropped his phone down the drain around 6:40 p.m. The man attempted to grab the phone, but he slipped and fell into the drain's holding tank where he became trapped. The man used a second cell phone he had on him to call 911.

Police say officers Paul Carpenito and William Judge responded and used a reciprocating saw and a ladder to rescue the victim. They were able to get him out of the drain, and police say the man was not injured.
