Two Hospitalized After Armed Robbery at Dix Hills Home

Police believe the suspects were known to the victims.

Two people were hospitalized following an armed robbery at a Dix Hills home late Sunday night, Suffolk Police said.

Police said two men with masks and guns entered a house, which had several people inside, at 800 Deer Park Road through an open door shortly after 11 p.m.

The men pistol-whipped one female and one male and stole a wallet and a cell phone before fleeing in an "unknown direction by unknown means," police said.

The victims were taken to Huntington Hospital for to be treated for their injuries, specifically lacerations to the head, police said.

The person who called in the incident to police said that the suspects were known.

Thank god I have sense enough to lock the door behind me. Everyone needs a deadbolt lock on their entry doors. Where no glass panels are near the door latch area, a single-deadbolt lock is most convenient and merely requires twisting the inside knob to secure. Even a teenager can do it. .. In doors with more glass, a double-deadbolt lock is required that will prevent a burglar from breaking out a glass panel and reaching inside to turn the knob. Double-deadbolts must be locked/unlocked from both sides using a key – not as convenient, but very secure. Both types of deadbolt locks are available at local hardware and home improvement stores, beginning at modest prices. Installation is well within the capabilities of most do-it-yourselfers. Remember that young people are prone to make mistakes. Some mistakes they learn from; others can haunt them for the rest of their lives. Help them avoid making a serious mistake by locking your doors behind you, preventing tempting targets.

Thanks Gov.Cuomo and N.Y.S.Legislature ,Dems and Repubicans alike for helping the bad guys.People have a right to defend themselves from these thugs .When deadbolts and other secruity measures fail, you are .SOL. Bad guys will think twice when a home owner has weapon to defend themselves with. These politicians have body gaurds who protect them, and they carry a firearm. It's sick and getting sicker. You may wan't to move to a state where you have right to defend yourself.
