Man With Gun Attempts to Rob Sayville Gas Station

Police are searching for a man who tried to rob the Reese gas station early this week.

Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery of gas station in Sayville that occurred last Sunday.

Police say a man entered the station's convenience store on Railroad Avenue around 11:45 p.m. displaying "what appeared to be a gun" and told an employee he wanted money.

A struggle ensued and the suspect fled with no proceeds, police said.

A K-9 unit canvassed the area, but could not locate the man, police said.

The suspect was described by police as a white male, about 6-feet tall, who was wearing a blue jacket, blue jeans and black sneakers during the incident.

Fifth squad detectives are continuing to investigate.
