Man Arrested for Bayport Liquor Store Burglary

East Patchogue man snared $1,200 in heist, according to police.

An East Patchogue man has been arrested and charged with the burglary of Bayport Wine and Liquor, Suffolk police confirmed Thursday.

Harry Fleischmann Jr., of East Patchogue, allegedly told police he backed a vehicle he had stolen into the front door of the liquor store on January 9.

"That was a good score. I got like $1,200," he said, according to court documents.

Fleischmann, who was arrested for the Bayport crime on January 16 in relation to other criminal investigations, is also charged with a slew of other criminal acts in Patchogue, including two counts of second degree burglary, fourth degree grand larceny and third degree arson.

Fleischmann, who is due back in First District Court in Central Islip on January 29, is being held on $100,000 cash bail. Fleischmann has been in and out of prison since 2000 due to burglary convictions and parole violations, according to the New York State Department of Corrections website.

And so the taxpayer is once again asked to give more to an already out of control and bloatedRead More system. Every year the school districts on Long Island receive increases of millions of dollars to their budgets, and still they want to bleed the taxpayer for more. As two income families struggle to pay exorbitant tax bills, we’re asked to pay even more? We’ll here’s a novel idea, how about if the teachers union’s began demanding less? This early retirement baloney must stop, salaries should be capped, administrators and their staffs must be cut by at least eighty percent. In addition, educators and staff should have to pay for their own medical and retirement plans just as the rest of us must. Here on Long Island, families are suffering and sacrificing, and many are being forced to leave due to taxes which are out of control. It is time for educators to cease hiding behind children with threats of decreased student programs, and to make an honest and realistic observation as to why things are as bad as they are. To blame parents for not paying enough into the system to support the schools is ludicrous. The real problem lies in a system which is self serving, and run by incompetents blind to the harm they are inflicting upon our children and families.
