Man Arrested for Assaulting Musician

Police charge Jalaluddin Khojandi for attacking another man outside Grey Horse Tavern in Bayport early Sunday morning.

A late-night live music show Saturday ended on a sour note, when a undomiciled man assaulted the featured musician post-performance outside , police said.

Jalaluddin Khojandi, 25, assaulted Michael Hargreaves, of Southampton, with a crowbar at approximately 3:45 a.m. Sunday, police said.

Hargreaves, 39, was transported by Patchogue Community Ambulance to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, where he was admitted with serious head injuries. Police arrested Khojandi for assaulting the musician.

Khojandi fled the scene in a 2006 Ford Crown Victoria, and a description of the vehicle was broadcast. Second Precinct police officers on patrol noticed the Ford parked in front of Khojandi’s place of employment, located at 659 East Jericho Turnpike, Huntington Station, at approximately 4 p.m.

As they were impounding the Ford, the officers saw Khojandi drive by in another vehicle. Khojandi was pulled over without incidence and apprehended in front of 379 East Jericho Turnpike, Huntington Station at 4:30 p.m.

Following an investigation by Fifth Squad detectives, Khojandi was charged with first degree assault.

Khojandi is being held overnight and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Monday.
